Maker in Focus
11th June - 4th August
Liz Lippiatt - Moments in Time
I am currently staying on our family farm in a fairly remote part of Western Australia, and working on a new collection for my show as “Maker in Focus” in June at the Gallery at the Guild at 51 in Cheltenham.
Looking back to my first couture cloth collection in 1982 inspired by the great ikats of Turkestan, I am re interpreting the imagery with themes relevant to me now nearly 40 years on!
Design inspiration comes from the world around me - currently, in my ‘dreamtime’, in the heat of a sunburnt, ancient land of Australia, I am focussing on the extraordinary “black boys” or grass trees which populate the hill across the valley.
In the Northern Hemisphere of my home country, to which I will return in March, it is the dog roses and beauty of the hedgerows which also inspire this collection.
It could evolve as the ‘black boy’ and ‘dog rose’ collection!
